Does it make any difference to book direct?

Absolutely – we always offer the best price direct! You will save money booking directly with us compared to through any of the big booking sites. By booking direct you are missing out the middle man and also supporting a family run business. We appreciate this greatly and so also offer more flexible booking conditions than you will find elsewhere.

Do you offer private parking?

Guests are welcome to use our off street private car park during their stay at no extra cost. It is possible to leave your car after check out on the day of your departure and return later in the day.

There are also no parking regulations on our street at weekends giving guests the additional option of free on street parking from 5.30pm on Fridays until 8.30am on Mondays.

Can I charge my electric vehicle at the Kingsway?

Yes! We have two 11kW charging ports on a 3-phase system. You’ll receive an RFID card on check-in allowing you to use the chargers at any time during your stay and the cost is added to your final bill. With the UK cost of electricity varying greatly at the current time, please contact us for the expected rate per kWh for your stay.

What are check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is between 3pm and 6pm. Check-out time is by 10.30am.  But we are always happy to be flexible where possible and can accommodate most requests if you let us know in advance.

Can I arrive outwith the usual check-in times?

Yes, if advised in advance. Early check-in: you are welcome to arrive at the guest house from 9.30am onwards. We’ll aim to get your room ready for your arrival. However if we’re not able to do so, you’re welcome to check-in, collect keys and leave your luggage to allow you to make the most of your first day.  If you have a car, you can leave it in our car park. Your room will be ready for your return.

Late check-in: for arrivals after 6pm we have a simple self-check-in procedure which will allow you access to the house and to your room at whatever time you will arrive. This means you don’t need to worry about delays on the day. You can also request the self-check-in if you prefer to stay flexible with your arrival time on the day.

Do we have to be in at a certain time in the evening?

You will have a set of keys to the house and to your room during your stay and so will have free access at any time.

How well do you know Edinburgh?

Both Gary and Lizzie were born and brought up in Edinburgh so we are true locals! This gives us a natural enthusiasm for and wealth of knowledge of our beautiful hometown which we love to share with guests.

Are children allowed to stay?

We are happy to welcome children aged 5 years and older. Please note we cannot fit extra beds into rooms.

Is there anyone on site during our stay?

Yes, the Kingsway is our family home and so we are available to help with any questions you may have or should there be any issues during your stay. We can help book taxis, replace a remote control battery, or provide more milk for your teatray! Please just ask as we’ll be on hand to help.

Can I leave my luggage with you after check-out?

Yes, you can leave your luggage with us after check-out time without charge and return to collect it at any time.

Can I check-out early?

It is no problem to check-out before 8am. Please let us know the day before so we can help book a taxi if required, prepare a takeaway breakfast and also to finalise payment for your stay.

What time is breakfast?

Breakfast is from 8am until 9.30am each morning. We also offer a tasty takeaway continental breakfast for guests requiring to leaving before 8am on tours or to fit in with early flights, trains etc.

Is it possible to smoke at the Kingsway?

No, we are entirely smoke free including e-cigarettes/ vaping and guests must exit our property to smoke. We are strict on this for the comfort of our other guests.

Are laundry facilities available?

We are unable to offer guest laundry facilities on site however we have a local laundrette nearby which is open seven days a week. You can do your own laundry or pay a little more for a service wash.

Do you serve dinner?

No, we have such a fantastic range of restaurants and pubs serving food nearby you will be spoilt for choice during your stay! We are happy to provide local recommendations and beyond – we have lived in various areas of Edinburgh and love our food, so we know our stuff.

Do you charge in advance?

We do not charge in advance (apart from non-refundable bookings) and your credit/ debit card details guarantee your reservation. Payment is by cash or by credit/ debit card during your stay.

We may preauthorise credit and debit cards prior to check-in. Please check the details on your confirmation to ensure there are no errors and do familiarise yourself with the cancellation policy.
